We recommend working in needle sizes US 6 - US 11 as these provide a range from soft, draping fabric to an airy, lightweight open lace. We also highly recommend washing and blocking the finished piece to smooth the appearance of uneven stitching.

This is our MOST POPULAR hand knitting yarn. It has been described as ‘like butter’; yet it has substance and strength to hold stitches. The tightness of spin combined with the relaxed angle of ply creates a luxurious drape and a sense of substance. It has a slight amount of halo but still very flat and reflective.

The reflective quality comes from the fact that mohair has similar qualities to human hair; i.e., a cuticle layer, which lays flat. Our fiber is acquired from professionally managed and genetically refined angora goats. ‘Kid’ is actually a classing term in the supply of mohair fiber, and will fall between 25 - 29 micron, and is the most commonly used fiber in mohair knitting yarns.

Our Lace hand knitting yarn is commercially processed (in the USA) for consistency. We hand dye the natural pearl skeins in a professionally managed small dye house based in Melbourne, Australia.

Our approach to this is to obtain the most unadulterated, unblended, and completely pure form of a natural fiber Lace. Yes - it’s mohair. But it’s not at all what you were expecting from lace.
