Have you been to the NY Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck? Are you curious about what people do with those fluffy bags of fleece and colorful fiber braids? Are you fascinated by the process of turning fiber into yarn? Then this class is for you!
You will learn about various methods of fiber preparation and how to spin on different types of spinning wheels, both traditional and electric, as well as on a drop spindle.
$175 (materials included)
Sundays, 12:30-2:30pm: January 21, 28, February 4 and 11. This class will be held at a different location. Information will be provided when you sign up.
Whether you’ve never held a crochet hook or have vague memories of crocheting from years ago, you’ll be able to call yourself a hooker after taking this four session class! You’ll learn how to make a chain, and the basic stitches of single, double, half double, and triple crochet. You will learn to crochet in rows and in the round. You’ll make a simple scarf or cowl, and learn how to crochet the granny square and other motifs.
Fridays, 10:30-12pm: January 12, 19, 26 & February 2
Building Blocks: Develop your knitting skills as you knit a beautiful sampler blanket. Using Michelle Hunter’s Building Blocks booklet as our guide, we will work together on 12 different knitted blocks to put together to make a blanket. With each block you will learn new skills including reading patterns, cables, increases and decreases, bobbles, and more. The instructions in the booklet are supplemented by free online videos for each technique. Class runs for 14 sessions to allow enough time to complete the blanket, even if you have to miss a class or two!
