Whether you’ve never knit before or haven’t for a very long time, this four session class will give you a solid foundation in knitting skills.  You will learn to knit, purl, cast on stitches, bind off, increase and decrease, make simple stitch patterns, weave in ends, and all the skills needed to make your first scarf, cowl, dishcloth, or hat.

You know the basics, now it's time to take your knitting to the next level. Jane will help you to learn new skills and build upon your basic knowledge of knitting. Bring a project-in-progress or start a new one with hands-on, step-by-step guidance.

Thursdays, Oct 26, Nov 2, 9 & 16: 10:30-12pm



Whether you’ve never held a crochet hook or have vague memories of crocheting from years ago, you’ll be able to call yourself a hooker after taking this four session class!  You’ll learn how to make a chain, and the basic stitches of single, double, half double, and triple crochet.  You will learn to crochet in rows and in the round.  You’ll make a simple scarf or cowl, and learn how to crochet the granny square and other motifs.

Review the basic stitches, learn to crochet in the round to create motifs, choose a project to work on while learning new techniques.

Enter the amazing world of Amigurumi, the Japanese craft of creating tiny animals and creatures.  Learn the basics while crocheting a bunny.

There in an abundance of adorable things to be crocheted that have no real purpose other than being cute!  Learn to make some of them while improving your crochet skills and learning some new ones.

Good finishing techniques take your handknit and crocheted pieces to the next level.  These methods are not difficult and can actually be fun!   Learn all about blocking, seaming, picking up stitches, and more. This is the class you MUST take.

Knitting is cool!  Learn the basics with your friends and you'll be able to make gifts for your family and create fun accessories for yourself.

Bring in a project-in-progress, choose a new project or let us help you pick one! Work on your project with all the help and guidance you need to complete it (while sitting with like-minded knitters).

Prerequisites: Advanced Beginner: must know how to cast on, knit and purl.

In our new Skills Series we will focus on specific areas of knitting or crochet. In these one-session classes you can add to or improve your repertoire of skills to help you create the projects you want to make.

Session 1: Fixing MistakesMon. Oct. 16, 5-7pm

Learning to fix mistakes is one of the biggest hurdles for new knitters, but once you have mastered the basics of knitting, fixing mistakes is easy to learn.  Sally will guide you through common mistakes with lots of tips and tricks to correct them.

Session 2: All About GaugeMon. Nov. 13, 5-7pm

Gauge is your friend, not something to be frightened of!  Sally LOVES gauge and swatches, and you will, too, after taking this class.

Session 3: Conquer Cables: Mon. Dec. 4, 5-7pm

It's true: cables just LOOK complicated! In one class you'll learn the easy twists and turns that make garments look so professional as well as beautiful.

HATS 101 

Make your first hat with ANY yarn using our hat formula! If you are a new knitter, tired of making scarves, hats are for YOU. You learn so many skills when hat knitting, and it's fun to customize its style using different yarns and patterns! You will learn how to knit "in-the-round" using circular and double pointed needles, and decreases. Hat projects are portable, quick and fun!

SOCKS 101 

Hand knit socks are the most comfortable socks you’ll ever wear AND make the best gift for your favorite feet!  You will learn how to knit socks from the top down, turn the heel, and finish a shaped toe.  You’ll gasp as a complete sock falls off your needles with your last stitch! 

Prerequisites: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate. Must be able to knit and purl comfortably and confidently.

No matter whether you prefer knitting to crochet, there are a few crochet techniques that are invaluable for knitters.  Learn how to chain so you can do a knit provisional cast on.  Learn to single crochet to use as a decorate border for blankets.  Learn the interesting crab stitch for a corded edge on a neckline.  And more!
